


Police have taken into custody three individuals possessing both domestic and foreign firearms during a raid in the Raozan Chowdhuryhat area of Chattogram.
They were apprehended on Tuesday night, November 18, in the Chowdhuryhat region of Noapara Union. The individuals arrested are Zahir Ahmed (52), Md. Sakibul Islam (22), and Md. Rana.
According to police reports, the operation targeted Zahir Ahmed's grocery store located next to Chowdhuryhat Muslim High School, where the shopkeeper, Zahir Ahmed, was detained. Subsequently, authorities recovered one foreign pistol, two rounds of ammunition, and two magazines from the premises. Following information provided by Zahir, Md. Sakibul Islam and Rana were also apprehended during the raid in the Haidgaon Maijpara area of Patia.
Md. Russell, the Additional Superintendent of Police for Chattogram District, stated that a firearm and ammunition were seized from a shop in Raozan during the operation. One individual was arrested, and based on his information, two more were detained in Patiya. He added that a total of five cases have been filed under the Arms Act in November as a result of the raids conducted by the Chattogram District Detective Branch and Raozan Police Station, leading to the arrest of eight suspects. In these various operations, authorities recovered 16 domestic and foreign firearms, eight domestic weapons, 75 rounds of ammunition, and 24 cartridges.
