Max Dowman, aged just 15 years and 302 days, became Arsenal's youngest ever starter in the club's 2-0 League Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday. The right-winger surpassed the previous record held by goalkeeper Jack Porter (16 years and 72 days).
Dowman, who joined the club in 2015, made his full debut after making a substitute appearance earlier this season and broken the record.
The young player impressed manager Mikel Arteta with his confident performance, recording the most dribbles, winning the most fouls, and the most duels during the match as Arsenal secured their eighth consecutive victory.
Coach Arteta hailed Dowman's "natural" ability and "courage and determination," noting that his capacity to run past Premier League-level players at 15 is "definitely something special."
Arteta made 10 changes to the starting line-up, also giving a full debut to 17-year-old forward Andre Harriman-Annous, and expressed happiness at fulfilling the players' dreams.
League leaders Arsenal are set to visit Burnley on Saturday.
