The women-centric film Pressure Cooker, directed by Raihan Rafi, is gaining strong momentum in cinemas during Eid-ul-Fitr.
The film earned around Tk 6 lakh on its opening day, rising to Tk 11 lakh on day two and Tk 15 lakh on day three, taking its three-day total to about Tk 29 lakh, according to box office tracker BMR.
The film has seen increasing audience interest, driven by positive word of mouth and reviews. Several shows in multiplexes, including Star Cineplex, have reported houseful attendance.
Starring Shabnam Bubli, Nazifa Tushi, Snigdha Chowdhury and Mariya Shanto, the film focuses on the lives and struggles of four women in Dhaka, offering a departure from traditional hero-centric stories. Critics have praised its portrayal of urban women’s realities, though some viewers questioned its suitability for family audiences during Eid.
This Eid season has also revived cinema hall attendance in Dhaka, with multiple Bangla films drawing large crowds. While big-budget releases like Prince faced initial setbacks, films such as Bonolota Express and Domm have also generated strong audience response. Overall, the festive period has signalled a positive trend for the local film industry.
