A housewife was killed and at least 10 others injured in a violent clash between two local BNP-backed groups factions in Sujanagar on Monday morning.

The incident occurred in Bhitbila Paschimpara village of Manikhat Union. The deceased, China Khatun, was shot during the confrontation. The injured have been admitted to Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex and Pabna General Hospital.

Sujanagar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sadiq Ahmed, said police have arrested 12 suspects in a special operation and are preparing to file a case on behalf of the victim’s family.

The clash stemmed from a long-standing rivalry between the Rafiul Islam Raja Group and the Islam Pramanik Group over local dominance. Tensions escalated Sunday night, and on Monday morning, both sides attacked each other with sticks and clubs, with the Raja Group reportedly opening fire, causing the fatality and injuries.

Law enforcement agencies have increased security in the area to prevent further violence.
