After a seven-day holiday including Eid, Shab-e-Qadr, and weekly breaks, offices and courts in Chattogram reopened on Tuesday (March 24). Despite the resumption of work, the Eid atmosphere remains lively, with colleagues exchanging greetings and festive cheer.
Private offices and factories remain largely closed, and many officials and employees have yet to return from their village homes. The city is expected to regain normal activity from Sunday, following Independence Day and the weekend.
Traffic in most areas is light, and shops are mostly closed. Limited public transport has led to higher fares for rickshaw and CNG auto-rickshaw passengers.
Government offices, banks, and courts have resumed operations, though attendance is not full. Officials report that work continues normally, but customer and employee presence is below usual levels.
Atiq Kabir, a senior official at a private bank, said, “Although offices and courts have opened, most roads are empty. Activity will likely increase after the Independence Day holiday.”
A Chattogram City Corporation official confirmed that most officers and employees were present, though some remain on leave in their villages.
Overall, Chattogram continues to feel the festive atmosphere as the city gradually returns to routine work and daily life.
