Missing Man Found Dead in Pabna River After Two Days

Police recovered the body of a man from the Baral River in Santhia Upazila, two days after he went missing.

The deceased, Zahid Hasan, 35, was a resident of Chatmohar upazila in the district. According to family members, he had gone to visit his in-laws in Faridpur upazila and went missing on the evening of March 20.

Locals spotted the body floating in the river near Silanda Bazar on Monday afternoon and informed police. Officers later recovered the body and took it to the station. Family members identified the body after seeing reports on social media.

Police said Zahid was reportedly mentally unstable. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Officer-in-Charge of Santhia Police Station Rafiqul Islam said the body was recovered following local information. The Nagarbari Naval Police has taken over the case.

Police have sent the body to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy and filed an unnatural death case. Further action will depend on the investigation report.
