At least 25 people were injured in a violent clash, including gunfire, between two rival groups in Kalia upazila of Narail over local dominance. Police have arrested 14 people in connection with the incident.

The clash occurred around 8:30 pm on Monday (March 23) in Noagram under Purulia union.

Police and local sources said the conflict involved the Sheikh and Mollah groups, led by Mahbubur Rahman Sheikh and Israel Sheikh on one side, and Khairul Mollah on the other. Tensions had been rising since an argument over meat distribution during Eid, which escalated into a violent confrontation.

During the clash, both sides used local weapons, and shotgun firing was reported. The injured were taken to Narail District Hospital and other hospitals in Khulna for treatment.

Doctors at Narail District Hospital said 14 injured individuals were treated there, some with bullet injuries, and all are now out of danger.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Robin Halder said law enforcement quickly brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed, and the area is currently calm. Legal proceedings are underway.
