Jet fuel prices in Bangladesh have been increased for the second time in a month, driven by rising global oil prices amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced that the new rates will take effect from midnight. This marks the first time jet fuel prices have been adjusted twice within a single month.
For domestic flights, the price has been set at Tk 202.29 per litre, up sharply from Tk 112.41 earlier this month and Tk 95.12 last month. The latest hike alone adds nearly Tk 90 per litre.
For international flights, the price has risen from USD 0.7384 to USD 1.3216 per litre.
BERC said the increase reflects a surge in global fuel prices following escalating tensions in the Middle East, including disruptions to energy infrastructure and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route.
Since September 2024, BERC has been responsible for setting jet fuel prices, replacing the earlier system where prices were fixed by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation.
