The year-long wait has concluded for S. M. Enamul Haque, the General Secretary of BNP in Paikgachha Upazila. Following his temporary expulsion due to alleged violations of party discipline, the BNP central leadership has now rescinded the expulsion order. This development was officially communicated through a press release issued by Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi from the central office on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
The press release indicated that all punitive measures previously enforced against S. M. Enamul Haque have been revoked, allowing him to reclaim his organizational rights as a primary member of the party. Consequently, he is now permitted to engage in all activities at the upazila, district, and central levels.
On August 10, 2024, a notice was issued by Khulna District BNP convener Amir Ejaz Khan and member secretary S. M. Monirul Hasan Bappi, which accused Enamul Haque of actions contrary to party discipline, leading to his temporary expulsion from all party levels, including primary membership.
The notice explained that this decision was made as part of a purge within the organization, given the political turmoil at that time.
Following his expulsion, he received a show cause notice and was required to provide a written explanation within three days. Enamul Haque subsequently submitted a formal appeal to the central leadership, requesting a review of the party's decision. The year-long wait has concluded for S. M. Enamul Haque subsequently submitted a formal appeal to the central leadership, requesting a review of the party's decision. Following a thorough examination of all allegations, explanations, and the overall context, the central BNP has opted to revoke the expulsion, deeming it appropriate.
Regardless of the expulsion, Enamul Haque remained actively involved in various initiatives of the Paikgachha Upazila BNP. He consistently participated in all aspects, from significant programs and movements to organizational meetings.
Party leaders and supporters who have faith in his leadership have organized human chains and protest events multiple times, urging a reassessment of the situation.
Close associates of Enamul Haque indicated that the central leadership decided to retract the expulsion in light of his dedication to party activities and his long-standing contributions.
Upon the announcement of the expulsion's withdrawal, a sense of relief washed over the leaders and activists of the Upazila BNP and its affiliates. Many took to social media to express their optimism that the organization will grow stronger under Enamul Haque's leadership. Some have remarked that this is a just decision.
After the announcement, Enamul Haque expressed his gratitude to the party leaders and activists, stating, "BNP is my political home. I am thankful that the party has placed its trust in me and granted me another chance. I will collaborate with everyone to enhance the democratic movement and strengthen the organization in Paikgachha."
Political analysts also believe that BNP's Paikgachha will introduce a new dimension to its political landscape following the party's purge campaign, as it re-engages with renewed vigor.
