Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended heartfelt Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to Muslims across the country and the world. In a message to the media, he expressed hope that the festival would strengthen national unity, harmony, and solidarity.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Eid-ul-Fitr, celebrated after a month of Ramadan fasting, brings joy, peace, and brotherhood. He emphasized that the lessons of Ramadan—restraint, sacrifice, empathy, and self-purification—should guide individuals, families, and society at large.
“On this happy occasion, we are committed to standing by the helpless, poor, and disadvantaged, sharing the joy of Eid with all,” Tarique Rahman said. “Let us work together to build a humane, peaceful, and prosperous Bangladesh inspired by the ideals of Eid. I pray to Allah that the blessings of Eid bring welfare to the country, nation, and the entire Muslim Ummah.”
The Prime Minister will offer Eid prayers at the Jatiya Eidgah ground at 8:30am on Saturday. Following the prayers, he will exchange greetings with foreign diplomats, cabinet members, parliamentarians, academics, ulema, artists, writers, and citizens at the State Guest House Jamuna starting at 10:00am, according to Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibly.
After the programme, Tarique Rahman and his family will visit the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
This marks Tarique Rahman’s first Eid celebration in Bangladesh after over 17 years, having spent the previous celebrations in London. He returned to the country on December 25 last year and assumed office as Prime Minister following the 13th national election on February 12, 2026.
