Muslims in areas including Anwara, Banshkhali and Satkania offered Eid prayers in separate congregations in the morning. After prayers devotees sought peace, prosperity for the global Muslim community and welfare for the country.
This early observance follows a long-standing tradition in these area, where residents begin and end Ramadan based on moon sightings anywhere in the world.
Followers of Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif in Satkania have upheld this practice for nearly two centuries. The central Eid congregation at the Darbar’s main Khanqah ground was led by its Sajjadanshin, Hazrat Imamul Arefin Maulana Muhammad Makshudur Rahman.
Eid congregations were also held at several locations, including Fulgazi Chowdhurybari and Muhuribari in Anwara’s Tailordwip and Barumchada villages, and at Kalipur Sahibbari in Banshkhali—all around 8:30am.
According to local sources, Eid was observed in multiple areas across Satkania, Chandanaish, Banshkhali, Anwara, Lohagara and Sitakunda, covering villages such as Aochia, Gatiadenga, Alinagar, Madarsha, Khagaria, Moishamura, Purangarh and others.
Meanwhile, followers of Jahangiria Shah Sufi Mamataziya Darbar Sharif in Chandanaish also celebrated Eid in about 60 villages. The main congregation was held at the Darbar premises at 9:30am, led by Pir Syed Maulana Mohammad Ali.
Special prayers were offered after the congregations for the well-being of the Muslim Ummah.
