


Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a van driver from a paddy field in Bera upazila.
The deceased, Fazlu Rahman, 55, was found on Friday morning in Barashila Mahala area of Bera municipality. His van was also recovered from the scene.
Fazlu Rahman, son of late A. Munnan, was a resident of Hatigara village and had been living in a rented house near Hatigara Canal.
According to locals, residents spotted the body lying beside a road connecting Barashila and Nalbhangga early in the morning and informed police. The body bore signs of a fatal throat injury.
Police suspect that unidentified assailants killed him during the night and left the body at the scene. His van was found intact nearby.
Officer-in-Charge of Bera Model Police Station, Nitai Chandra, said the body has been sent for autopsy. “The motive and those involved are yet to be confirmed. An investigation is underway,” he added.
