The Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha has crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Narsapur (south of Kakinada), overnight. As of the latest update (2:30 a.m. IST, October 29, 2025), the system has weakened into a Cyclonic Storm and is positioned approximately 20 km west-northwest of Narsapur.
The storm is currently moving northwestward across coastal Andhra Pradesh and is expected to weaken further into a deep depression later today as it moves inland.
Despite weakening, the storm continues to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, including Krishna, East Godavari, and West Godavari districts. Strong winds and heavy rain are also affecting neighboring Odisha and Telangana.
The system's moisture is pushing the rainfall belt northwards, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected today over Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Saurashtra and Kutch.
Preliminary reports confirm damage to standing agricultural and horticultural crops, uprooted trees, and localized power disruptions due to strong gales experienced during and after landfall.
