The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has launched a distribution drive providing free seeds and fertilizers to 2,550 small and marginal farmers in Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila for the current Kharif-1 season.

The distribution, part of the government’s Agricultural Incentive Program, was officially inaugurated on Monday morning by Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Segufta Mehnaz.

Under this program, each registered farmer receives a specialized package to boost local production Seeds: 5 kg of high-yielding Ufshi Aush paddy seeds. Fertilizers 10 kg of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10 kg of Muriate of Potash (MOP).

During the ceremony, UNO Segufta Mehnaz emphasized that these incentives are designed to cushion small-scale farmers against rising costs. She urged beneficiaries to ensure the proper use of these inputs to maximize yields and strengthen national food security.

The event was presided over by Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Ali Ahmed. Other notable attendees included Monirul Islam Nupur (representative of the Jhalakathi-2 MP), Senior Fisheries Officer Sayyida, and various upazila-level officials.
