


An emergency Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign has launched in Shantiganj Upazila, Sunamganj. To ensure the program’s success, local authorities held an inauguration ceremony and a coordination meeting on Monday.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mohammad Shahjahan officially inaugurated the campaign at 11:00 AM at the Shantiganj Upazila 50-bed Hospital. Following the launch, a coordination meeting was held at the hospital’s conference room, chaired by the UNO and moderated by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Iqbal Hasan.
Target 21,699 children across the upazila. Duration The campaign runs from April 20 to May 10. Objective To prevent the spread of measles and rubella through 100% vaccination coverage.
Ansar Uddin, a member of the District BNP Convening Committee, attended as the chief guest. Other speakers included Mohammad Oli Ullah, Officer-in-Charge of Shantiganj Police Station, and Resident Physician Dr. Tariq Jamil Apu.
Health officials emphasized the importance of field-level coordination and public awareness. "The MR vaccine is highly effective. Guardians must ensure their children are vaccinated so that no one is left behind," speakers noted, reaffirming their commitment to making the initiative a total success.
