An awareness rally was held in Muksudpur on Saturday (July 6) to educate the public on dengue prevention and curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. Organized by the Upazila Administration and Muksudpur Municipality, the procession started at 10:00 AM from the Upazila Parishad premises and marched through key local roads.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Ashik Kabir led the event, joined by government officials, healthcare professionals, political leaders, and teachers. Notable attendees included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Abirul Islam, Muksudpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Md. Matiar, and Upazila Health Complex physicians Dr. Dip Saha and Dr. Salauddin Ahmed.
Local political figures, including Upazila BNP General Secretary Md. Tarikul Islam Raju, and Muksudpur Press Club President Md. Siru Mia, also took part to show unified community support.
Addressing the gathering, UNO Kabir stressed that community involvement is vital to combating dengue. He urged residents to keep their homes, schools, and surroundings clean. Specifically, he warned against allowing water to stagnate on rooftops, in discarded containers, or in yards, as these serve as prime breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.
Officials stated the initiative aims to inspire collective action and personal responsibility to prevent a local dengue outbreak.
