A coordinated cleanliness and mosquito eradication drive was conducted at Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital on Saturday to curb the spread of dengue and chikungunya.
Lutfur Rahman Kajol, Member of Parliament for Cox's Bazar Sadar, inaugurated the campaign at 9:00 AM. Before launching the drive, the MP inspected the hospital's facilities with evaluating service quality and interacting directly with patients, relatives and on-duty doctors.
Following the inspection MP Kajol actively participated in the cleanup activities alongside Hospital Superintendent Dr. Mongtin Nyo, doctors and healthcare staff.
Speaking at the event, the MP stressed that maintaining a hygienic environment in public hospitals is crucial for patient safety. He highlighted that weekly cleanup drives are being conducted across government institutions every Saturday in line with national directives.
"Institutional action alone is not enough to stop vector-borne diseases" Kajol noted, urging citizens to keep their personal surroundings clean. He added that comprehensive action plans are underway to transform Cox's Bazar municipality into a cleaner, pollution-free city within the next five months.
The event concluded with an awareness campaign informing patients and visitors about preventive measures against mosquito breeding.
