Man Critically Injured in Landmine Blast Near Ukhia Border

A 32-year-old man was severely injured in a landmine explosion near the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Ukhia Cox's Bazar on Thursday morning.

The victim Bodi Alam a resident of Balukhali Jumer Chhara in Palangkhali Union, was fishing near the border around 10:00 am when a landmine—reportedly planted on the Myanmar side—detonated. The blast caused critical injuries to his right leg and the right side of his body.

Locals rescued Alam and rushed him to the MSF Hospital in Kutupalong. As his condition deteriorated following primary care he was transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for advanced medical treatment.

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Azad in charge of the Balukhali Police Outpost confirmed the hospitalization and stated that police are actively gathering further details. Palangkhali Union Parishad Chairman M Gafur Uddin Chowdhury also acknowledged receiving reports of the border explosion.

The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns for locals living and working near the volatile border region.
