In a fresh escalation of Middle East tensions, US forces have struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar installations in Goruk and on Qeshm Island.
The strikes occurred shortly after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) intercepted and shot down four Iranian attack drones heading toward the Strait of Hormuz. The US military stated the drones posed an "immediate threat" to regional maritime traffic, prompting the defensive strikes on the radar facilities.
Following the US operation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting regional bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. According to military reports, air defenses successfully intercepted the majority of the incoming projectiles, while others failed to reach their targets. CENTCOM confirmed that no US personnel were injured during the exchange. Additionally, the US military dismissed Iranian claims that the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet, located in Bahrain, sustained any damage.
These latest clashes threaten the fragile, temporary ceasefire that has been in place between the United States and Iran since April 8. While the truce formally remains active, isolated skirmishes have continued to disrupt the region. Diplomatic negotiations, facilitated by international mediators, are currently ongoing in an effort to secure a permanent and sustainable end to the conflict.
