To curb the spread of dengue and promote a cleaner environment, the Faridpur District Civil Surgeon’s Office organized a public awareness rally and discussion on Saturday morning (June 6).
Speaking as the chief guest at the Faridpur General Hospital premises, Deputy Commissioner Md. Mazharul Islam emphasized that there is no substitute for personal and community awareness in the fight against dengue.
"To destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds, we must keep our homes, offices, and surroundings strictly clean," Islam said. He urged residents to routinely empty stagnant water from flower pots, coconut shells, and discarded containers, while emphasizing the daily use of mosquito repellents and bed nets.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, acting as the special guest, echoed the call for stronger public campaigns, particularly in schools and residential neighborhoods.
Following the discussion, a colorful rally wound through major city streets. Participants—including health department officials, doctors, nurses, and local residents—carried placards with actionable slogans such as, "Keep courtyards clean to prevent dengue," and "Always use mosquito nets while sleeping."
Key local officials, including Superintendent of Police Md. Nazrul Islam, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Shah Mohammad Badruddoza, and Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Hasan, also attended the event to demonstrate a unified administrative stance on public health.
