At least eight to 10 people were injured in a violent clash over a land dispute in Chattogram on Friday (June 5) night.
The confrontation erupted near Khulshi Hillview and Foy's Lake after tensions escalated over the construction and demolition of a boundary wall on a contested plot of land.
For over two hours, rival groups chased each other and hurled bricks, bringing local traffic to a standstill and leaving the roads littered with debris. Local residents fled to safety as panic spread through the neighborhood.
Police promptly arrived at the scene and restored order. The injured, some suffering from severe stab wounds, were transported to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and other local clinics.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) North Division Deputy Commissioner Amirul Islam confirmed that the violence involved residents from the Khulshi and Akbar Shah areas, fueled by a long-standing territorial dispute near Foy's Lake.
"The situation is now fully under police control, and traffic has resumed," DC Islam stated from the scene. He added that an investigation is actively underway, and strict legal action will be taken against those who instigated the violence.
