Heavy rainfall and gusty winds swept across Bangladesh on Friday, breaking a grueling 15-day heatwave and bringing much-needed relief to public life. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported rainfall at 28 of its 51 observation stations. Narsingdi recorded the highest rainfall at 49 mm, while the capital, Dhaka, received 2 mm.
Temperatures dipped slightly nationwide following the showers. The country's highest temperature on Friday was recorded in Cox’s Bazar at 36.3°C, while Dhaka peaked at 33.5°C.
The BMD has forecast continued rain for Saturday, predicting light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds across the country. Many places in Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, along with isolated areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions, are likely to see rain.
Some regions may experience moderate to heavy downpours. However, overall day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain mostly unchanged.
For Dhaka and surrounding areas, the weather office predicted a partly cloudy sky with a slight drop in daytime temperatures. Sunset in Dhaka on Saturday will be at 6:44 PM, and sunrise on Sunday will be at 5:10 AM.
