A total of 20,540 children in Paikgachha upazila will receive the measles-rubella (MR) vaccine under a special campaign.

The information was shared at a coordination meeting held at the Upazila Health Complex auditorium on Sunday (April 19), marking the upcoming “Upazila-Level Measles-Rubella Vaccine Campaign 2026.”

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ahsanara Binte Ahmed chaired the meeting. She said children aged 6 months to 5 years will be vaccinated over 11 days, from April 20 to May 10.

Of the total campaign period, vaccinations will be provided for eight days at community-level centres and three days at educational institutions.

Registered children can receive the vaccine daily from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at designated centres, including permanent facilities at the Upazila Health Complex.

Health officials said awareness campaigns have been carried out to ensure no child is left out. Dr. Ahsanara urged guardians to vaccinate their children within the scheduled time and avoid misinformation.

Officials also confirmed that online registration will remain open until the final day of the campaign.

Among those present were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Fazle Rabbi, Officer-in-Charge Golam Kibria, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shahjahan Ali Sheikh, Education Officer Sanjay Debnath, Upazila Family Planning Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, Medical Officer Shakila Afroz, and representatives from local administration, media, and development organisations.
