


A rally and discussion meeting marking National Nutrition Week was held in Paikgachha, Khulna, on Thursday. Organized by the Public Health Nutrition Institute and the Upazila Health Department, the event centered on the theme: "End nutrition inequality, build a self-reliant Bangladesh."
The program commenced at 11:00 AM with a colorful rally that circled the main roads of the Upazila Sadar. This was followed by a formal discussion presided over by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ahsanara Binte Ahmed. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury attended as the chief guest.
In his welcome address, Medical Officer Dr. Arnab Ghosh highlighted the objectives of the week-long campaign. Speakers emphasized that a balanced diet is critical for improving maternal and child health. They called for increased public awareness to eradicate malnutrition and outlined plans for a week of counseling and community outreach programs.
Special guests included Upazila Education Officer Sanjay Debnath, OC (Operation) Zulfikar Ali, and Resident Medical Officer Dr. Sanjay Kumar Mondal. The event, moderated by statistician Jahangir Alam, saw participation from local medical professionals, journalists, members of World Vision and Nabalok, and community leaders.
