Iran has said it has no plans for a new round of talks with the United States, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghei.
Speaking amid rising tensions over possible negotiations, Baghei said, “We have no plans at this time regarding the time, place or structure of any further talks.”
The statement comes as a US delegation prepares to visit Pakistan. The team is reportedly led by US Vice President JD Vance. At least two US military aircraft have already landed in Islamabad, believed to be carrying senior officials.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said on social media that his “representatives” would arrive in Islamabad on Monday (April 20) evening. The White House later confirmed that Vice President Vance would lead the delegation.
A White House official told the BBC that the delegation would also include Trump’s senior adviser Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, both of whom were involved in earlier talks.
Iran has previously indicated it could engage in negotiations if certain “red lines” are respected. According to Al Jazeera, citing a senior Iranian lawmaker, Tehran has asked the US to honour these conditions, though specific details were not disclosed.
