


Advocacy Meeting Held in Muksudpur Ahead of Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign; Over 33,000 Children to Be Vaccinated
An advocacy meeting was held in Muksudpur Upazila of Gopalganj to ensure the successful implementation of the “Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign 2026.” The meeting took place on Sunday (April 19) at 12:00 PM in the conference room of the Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex, organized by the Upazila Health Complex.
The meeting was chaired by the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Dr. Raihan Islam Shovon, and conducted by Medical Officer Dip Saha. Officials from various departments, local representatives, bankers, education officers, and journalists attended the event.
Speakers included the Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Muksudpur Police Station, Md. Matiar Molla; Residential Medical Officer (RMO), Dr. Bhimbadev Mondol; Upazila Family Planning Officer, Md. Humayun Kabir; Manager of Janata Bank PLC, Muksudpur Branch, Enamul Hasan; and Assistant Upazila Education Officer, Bikash Chandra Mallik. Also present were Muksudpur Press Club President Md. Chhiru Mia and General Secretary Kazi Md. Ohidul Islam, Upazila Press Club President Md. Shahidul Islam, Muksudpur Reporters Unity President Tarikul Islam, and Press Club Muksudpur President Amod Molla, among others.
The speakers highlighted the importance of vaccination in preventing measles and rubella and emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to ensure that all eligible children are covered within the scheduled time.
Dr. Raihan Islam Shovon informed that, as part of the nationwide campaign, the vaccination program in Muksudpur will run from April 20 to May 10. A total of 52 vaccination centers will be set up across the upazila, including 51 EPI centers in 1 municipality and 16 unions, along with 1 center at the Upazila Health Complex.
He further stated that a total of 33,138 children aged between 6 months and 5 years will receive a single dose of the measles-rubella vaccine. The vaccine is being provided free of cost under the initiative of the Government of Bangladesh.
Concerned stakeholders expressed hope that, with collective cooperation, the campaign will be successfully implemented and all children in the upazila will be brought under vaccination coverage.
