Every generation has its definitive coming-of-age films. "It Ends" offers a fresh with horror-infused take on Gen Z’s post-graduation struggles. Directed by Alexander Ullom the film translates the deep anxieties of entering adulthood into a chilling also minimalist thriller.

The story follows four high school friends James, Day, Fisher and Tyler. While navigating post-college job hunts and existential dread they find themselves inexplicably trapped in a white Jeep on an endless country road. The terrifying twist? If they stop driving for more than 90 seconds then a zombie-like figures emerge from the woods to attack them.

Each character handles this bizarre nightmare differently with reflecting real-world coping mechanisms. James (Phinehas Yoon) represents the cynical, depressed youth dreading a traditional corporate future. Day (Akira Jackson) is stressed about finding work in her field while Tyler (Mitchell Cole) provides a sharp contrast as a working-class military veteran who is already planning to settle down.

While the film’s metaphor about being "stuck in life" is very direct, the execution is highly effective. Ullom successfully builds a hypnotic, ominous atmosphere and relying on a talented but unknown cast to carry the emotional weight of the story. Although the single-setting concept wears slightly thin over time, the jump scares and psychological tension keep the audience engaged.

Ultimately "It Ends" is a relatable expression of youth anxiety. For young adults feeling overwhelmed by their future this 89-minute thriller captures that exact with unsettling mood perfectly also marking a highly promising debut for its director.
