At least six people were killed after a massive fire completely destroyed TUPTUP Resto and Resort in the Patuartek beach area of Inani along Marine Drive, Cox's Bazar on Saturday morning.
The blaze broke out around 6:30 AM at the wooden and bamboo structure located roughly 29 kilometers from Kolatoli. Fire Service officials reported that the three-story resort burnt down rapidly.
Three firefighting units from Ukhiya responded to the emergency, bringing the flames under control by 10:00 AM and fully extinguishing them around 11:00 AM. Authorities recovered six bodies from the debris during initial search operations.
Fire Service spokesman Talha Bin Jasim confirmed the casualties. While officials suspect the victims were tourists staying at the resort, emergency workers are verifying their identities.
Cox's Bazar Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Syed Muhammad Morshed Hossain stated that search and rescue operations remain underway at the site. Officials warned that the death toll could rise further as crews clear the wreckage. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
