Planning a special Durga Puja meal at home without waiting in long restaurant queues? If you want something rich and flavorful alongside traditional Basanti Pulao or fried rice, try making Shrimp Rezala (sweet shrimp Rezala). It’s a delicious twist on classic Malaikari and takes only 15 minutes to cook.
Quick Recipe Guide: 1. Prep the Shrimp: Lightly sauté cleaned shrimp in oil and set them aside.
2. Make the Paste: Blend onions, ginger, garlic, green chilies, soaked almonds and poppy seeds (postor bata) into a smooth paste.
3. Build the Gravy: Whisk sour yogurt with coriander powder, cumin powder and salt. Heat whole spices in oil, add the nut-onion paste and cook until the oil separates.
4. Simmer: Stir in the yogurt mixture and add a little warm water along with the sautéed shrimp and simmer for five minutes.
5. Temper: In a small pan the heat ghee and fry sliced onions, dry red chilies and whole spices until fragrant and golden. Pour this over the simmering curry.
6. Finish: Drizzle a few drops of kewra water and rose water, cover and cook for two more minutes.
