


Indian President Droupadi Murmu congratulated her Bangladeshi counterpart Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir after he was sworn in as the 23rd President of Bangladesh on Friday evening.
In a message issued shortly after the oath-taking ceremony at Bangabhaban, Murmu wished him good health and success in his new role and expressed hope for continued progress and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh. She said she looked forward to working with him to deepen ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Murmu extended warm congratulations on his assumption of office, and said his long experience in public life and political leadership pointed to a successful tenure serving the people of Bangladesh.
She described the India-Bangladesh relationship as a unique one, built on a shared history of sacrifice, close cultural links and enduring friendship. In recent years, she noted that cooperation between the two countries has expanded into new areas including energy, technology, connectivity, youth affairs, health and education.
