


Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit his home district Bogura on Monday, marking his first official visit to the region since the 13th national parliamentary election. The visit has generated widespread anticipation across the district, with a visible sense of preparation and public interest from urban to rural areas.
A festive atmosphere has taken over Bogura as major roads, including Satmatha and Nawabbari Road, have been cleaned and decorated with banners, festoons, and archways. Local businesses and residents have also taken part in beautification efforts, turning the city into what many describe as a “festival-like environment.”
According to party and local sources, the Prime Minister is expected to depart his residence at 06:00 AM by road toward Dhaka before continuing his journey to Bogura. He is scheduled to arrive at Bogura Circuit House at approximately 10:30 AM.
Following a brief stop, at 11:00 AM he will inaugurate the newly constructed Bar Association building at the District and Sessions Judge Court premises and formally launch the “e-Bail Bond” service.
At 11:30 AM, he is expected to visit the Bogura Municipality office, where he will unveil the newly formed “Bogura City Corporation” plaque.
After the municipal programme, he will travel to Bagbari in Gabtali upazila, arriving at approximately 12:45 PM. There, he is scheduled to inaugurate the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026 at the Ziaur Rahman Rural Hospital premises and attend a Family Card distribution programme at Shahid Zia Degree College ground.
At 01:45 PM, he will launch the Choukirdah canal excavation project in Noshipur and is also expected to visit the ancestral home of former President Ziaur Rahman.
He will then return to Bogura Circuit House at 02:45 PM for a short break.
At 04:00 PM, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a large public rally at the historic Altafunnisa Playground, organized by the district BNP. Later, at 05:45 PM, he will inaugurate the newly constructed Bogura Press Club building and the renovation work of the central Baitur Rahman Mosque.
He is expected to depart Bogura at 06:00 PM for Dhaka. On his return journey, he may briefly stop at the Bogura Rural Development Academy (RDA), with arrival in Dhaka expected around 11:00 PM.
The visit has been designated as an official government programme. The district administration, along with law enforcement agencies, has implemented heightened security measures. Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other security forces are working in coordination to ensure smooth and secure execution of the programme.
Residents and local leaders say the visit has created a strong sense of anticipation across Bogura. Many believe the visit could bring significant development announcements, including the long-discussed upgrade of Bogura Municipality into a City Corporation.
Local BNP leaders stated that the visit may mark an important turning point for regional development, while citizens expressed hope for improved infrastructure and employment opportunities.
As Bogura prepares to welcome Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the district stands at the center of political and public attention. With preparations nearly complete, expectations remain high for key announcements and development initiatives during the high-profile visit.
