Singer and actor Sophie Choudry recently responded directly to a fan on X (formerly Twitter) who questioned the sustainability of her career in Bollywood despite her recent absence from major films, web shows, or songs.

Sophie Choudry posted a picture on X with American pop star Jennifer Lopez (JLo), whom she called an inspiration, taken backstage at a high-profile wedding in Udaipur (that of Netra Mantena and Vamsi Gadiraju).

A fan commented on her post asking: “Yaar Sophie mujhe aaj tak nahi samajh mein aata how have you survived Bollywood bina kaam ke (without work). No movies, no web show, not even as songs.”

Sophie Choudry posted a "befitting reply" clarifying the distinct niche she has carved for herself outside of mainstream acting roles.

She stated: "Through the live show market. Been one of the busiest live singer performers for 17 years for corporate and wedding shows, am the number 1 female host for live events." She explained her career strategy, noting that unless an actor is in the top 10 actresses, they generally don't make significant money in Bollywood, a reality she realized "a long long time ago."

The report highlights that she has become a highly sought-after host for live shows, corporate events, and high-profile weddings, in addition to her past acting roles in films like Shaadi No. 1 (2005) and Kidnap (2008).

Sophie also used her platform to defend Jennifer Lopez after another fan criticized JLo's attire, arguing, "She looks better than most 20 year old performers!"

Beyond hosting, Sophie is a trained dancer, a social media influencer (with over 2 million Instagram followers), and previously hosted shows for MTV India.
