The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has introduced a new email-based registration process to make online income tax return submission easier for Bangladeshi taxpayers residing abroad.
Previously, expatriates faced difficulty using the online system because the One-Time Passwords (OTPs) were sent only to mobile SIMs registered in Bangladesh under their biometric information.
Expatriate taxpayers can request this email-based registration by sending their passport number, National ID number, visa page copy, email address, and photograph to www.ereturn@etaxnbr.gov.bd. After verification, the NBR will send the OTP and registration link.
The NBR noted that while expatriates are exempt from mandatory online filing, many have shown interest in the convenient e-return system.
The NBR emphasized that online filing is a simple, paperless process that instantly generates an acknowledgement slip and income tax certificate.
The deadline for all resident and non-resident taxpayers to submit their income tax returns for the 2025-26 tax year is November 30, 2025.
Already, over 850,000 income tax returns have been filed online for the current tax year.
