Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi confirmed on Tuesday that all branches of the Indian armed forces are maintaining "fully open" communication channels with their counterparts in Bangladesh to prevent any miscommunication amid regional shifts.
Speaking at an annual press conference in New Delhi, General Dwivedi emphasized that he remains in regular contact with the Bangladesh Army Chief. "The intention is to ensure there is no miscommunication or misunderstanding," he stated, adding that both the Indian Naval and Air Force chiefs have also engaged with their peers in Dhaka.
The Army Chief’s remarks follow a period of heightened regional monitoring after the political transition in Bangladesh. General Dwivedi noted that a special delegation recently visited Bangladesh to meet with stakeholders on the ground.
Addressing recent developments, he stated that the Indian military is closely observing the situation. "It is important for us to understand the nature of the government in Bangladesh," he said, referencing the current interim administration. "We are assessing whether their actions are long-term or short-term to determine if any immediate reaction is necessary."
General Dwivedi concluded by assuring that current Indian military movements are not directed toward Bangladesh, framing ongoing capability developments as a standard process shared by all nations.
