International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day held in Sariakandi

On Thursday (December 18), a colorful rally took out from Sariakandi Upazila at 11 am on the occasion of International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day.

International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day-2025 were celebrated in Sariakandi, Bogra with the theme 'We will go abroad with our skills, we will build our homeland with remittances'. The program was organized by Sariakandi Upazila Administration.

On Thursday (December 18), a colorful rally took out from Sariakandi Upazila at 11 am on the occasion of International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day. The rally started from the upazila premises, circled the main road in front of the upazila and ended back at the starting point. After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad meeting room. The discussion meeting was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Sumaiya Ferdous.

The program was addressed by Upazila Executive Officer Sumaiya Ferdous, Upazila Project Officer Md. Rashedul Islam, Social Service Officer Md. Abdul Alim, Election Officer Md. Ahsan Habib, Headmaster of Sariakandi Girls High School Saki Md. Zakiul Alam, Headmaster of Mathurapara (BK) High School Md. Tofail Ahmed, President of Sariakandi Press Club, Md. Aktaruzzaman, and Co-General Secretary of Sariakandi Model Press Club Md. Harunur Rashid.

The speakers at the program said that the number of our unemployed youth is increasing day by day, these unemployed youth are not our burden but our asset. If we can send them abroad with proper training, they will be the driving force to move this country forward. Both expatriates and immigrants are important for the economy of this country, they are both our remittance warriors. Although we have made great progress in formal education, we are lagging far behind in technical education. Here too, we will have to move forward at the same pace. In addition, initiatives will have to be taken at all levels to ensure that the immigration system is more secure, transparent and effective.

Also present at the event were Upazila Primary Education Officer Sheikh Mahatabur Rahman, Upazila Engineer Md. Tuhin Sarkar, Organizing Secretary of Model Press Club Rashed Mandal. The event was moderated by Upazila Poverty Alleviation Officer Md. Nazrul Islam. Also present at the event were teachers from various schools, journalists, well-wishers, etc.
