

A meeting was held between newly appointed Tangail Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Abu Saeed and journalists working at the district level on Wednesday (October 7).
The meeting, organised by the district administration, took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in the afternoon.
During the meeting, DC Abu Saeed exchanged views with journalists on Tangail’s development activities, public services, law and order, issues concerning public interest and the overall situation in the district.
Tangail Press Club President Ataur Rahman Khan, General Secretary Kazi Zakerul Mowla, former president and Principal of Tangail Law College Khan Mohammad Khaled, Advocate Zafar Ahmed, Print Media Association President Md Jobayed Mallik Bulbul, General Secretary Abu Jubayer Ujjal, Tangail Journalists Union President Shamsadul Akhtar Shamim and General Secretary Mahabbat Hossain attended the meeting.
Officials of the administration and representatives of various print, online and electronic media outlets working in the district were also present. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Mahbub Hasan moderated the meeting.
Abu Saeed said news published in the media has a significant impact on people. He therefore stressed the importance of journalists reporting news that is truthful, objective and information-based.
He also urged relevant stakeholders to remain vigilant against attempts to mislead people through false or misleading information.
Meeting Held on Durga Puja Law and Order in Tangail
A separate meeting on law and order arrangements for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja was held in Tangail on Wednesday morning.
Tangail District Police organised the meeting at the Police Lines Multipurpose Shed, with Tangail Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarker in the chair.
Additional Superintendents of Police HM Mahbub Rezuan Siddiqui, Fauzia and Adib, along with officials from different levels of the district police, leaders of the district Puja Udjapan Committee, and presidents and general secretaries of various Puja mandaps attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed security arrangements at different Puja mandaps, the law and order situation, traffic control and measures to ensure overall security throughout the celebrations.
Puja Udjapan Committee leaders raised various problems and security-related concerns. District police officials assured them that necessary measures would be taken to maintain law and order.
Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarker said security would be strengthened at every Puja mandap in the district during the Durga Puja celebrations.
He said a coordinated security arrangement would be established involving police personnel, Ansar members and volunteers to ensure overall security at the Puja mandaps.
A total of 1,357 mandaps are hosting Durga Puja celebrations in the district this year.
