


The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 13 development projects with a total estimated outlay of Tk.16,776 crore.
The approval came during an ECNEC meeting chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The approved package comprises ten new initiatives, two revised schemes and one time-extension project.
Out of the total expenditure, the government will fund Tk.10,600 crore, while project loans will account for Tk 81 crore, and implementing agencies will contribute Tk.524 crore from their own resources.
Energy: Construction of a 442 MW Peak Solar Power Plant in Rampal costing Tk.2,498 crore to boost renewable energy capacity.
Transport & Logistics: A Tk.2,769 crore project to procure 30 meter-gauge diesel-electric locomotives for Bangladesh Railway, and a Tk 203.5 crore allocation for the second Karatoya Bridge in Panchagarh.
Urban & Rural Development: Major infrastructure and drainage upgrades for Gazipur (Tk.2,586 crore), Dhaka South (Tk 784 crore), and Rangpur City Corporations (Tk.1,602 crore), along with a Tk.3,767 crore rural infrastructure initiative across Sirajganj, Bogra and Naogaon.
Public & External Assets: Renovation of the embassy chancery building in Paris (Tk.211 crore) and a women's entrepreneurship development initiative through cooperatives (Tk.185 crore).
Cabinet ministers and senior government officials attended the meeting which aims to strengthen national connectivity, urban service delivery and power generation.
