The 50-bed Shantiganj Upazila Health Complex in Sunamganj completed 74 normal deliveries in September, reflecting the expanding range of healthcare services at the newly established facility and growing public confidence in it.

According to hospital sources, regular maternity services were provided to pregnant women throughout September. A total of 74 pregnant women underwent successful normal deliveries during the month, with doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers contributing to the safe completion of the births.

Local residents said the availability of maternity and other healthcare services at the upazila-level hospital has reduced the need for many patients to travel to the district town or other distant facilities. This has helped save both time and money. The increasing number of normal deliveries has also encouraged greater interest and confidence in the government-run hospital among local pregnant women.

Shantiganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Iqbal Hasan said the hospital, although newly established, is making every effort to improve the quality of its healthcare services.

“We are trying to move ahead compared with other upazila hospitals as well. Our main goal is to provide every patient with sincere and dedicated care,” he said.

He added that doctors, nurses and health workers from all departments are engaged in serving the community, with particular emphasis on maternity care.

“Seventy-four normal deliveries were conducted in September. We are working to ensure better and higher-quality services in the future,” Dr Hasan said.
