The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has officially moved away from manual tracking of cross-border trade by introducing a digital sub-module titled "Truck Movement" within the ASYCUDA World system. This initiative aims to electronically monitor cargo trucks entering Bangladesh from India, ensuring a more transparent and efficient customs process.
The pilot phase of this digital transition was successfully launched at Benapole Customs House on December 15, 2025. Following the evaluation of this pilot, the NBR intends to implement the system across all land ports nationwide.
The system digitally logs the entry of goods-laden trucks and the return of empty trucks, replacing the old manual entry books.
Customs officials can now store precise data on arrival and departure times, allowing for the calculation of stay durations and real-time oversight.
By improving data accuracy and management, the system is designed to curb revenue leakage and enhance accountability.
The digital mechanism provides real-time reporting that strengthens border security and monitors vehicle movements more effectively.
The automation is expected to modernize customs management and lead to smoother, faster cross-border trade operations.
