The Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) has appointed nine activists from the July uprising on a one-year contractual basis.
The appointments, confirmed on Monday, are under the government’s outsourcing policy. Omar Faruk, Director of the CPA, clarified that these positions are not part of the permanent revenue cadre.
“They will receive salaries according to the outsourcing policy,” Faruk said. He added that if the appointees wish to become permanent employees in the future, they will be required to compete with general candidates through the standard recruitment process.
The nine appointees—Arabi Mohammad Al Miraj, Mohammad Shakil, Md Meheroz Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Md Shefatul Kader, Saiful Islam, Mohammad Tarek, Md Amir Hossain, and Md Ibrahim—have been deployed across various departments.
These include the Port Training Centre, Hydrography Division, Port Girls’ High School, Naval Engineering, the Electrical Division, Finance & Accounts, and the Planning Division.
