Police have arrested Kaingpa Murung (49), a fugitive accused sentenced to 5 years in prison, with an illegal gun in Lama Upazila in Bandarban. He was arrested at around 4 am on Tuesday (January 13) from Chongpat Murung Para in Shilertua area of ​​​​the Upazila Sadar Union. Arrested Kaingpa Murung is the son of the deceased Ranglai Murung, a resident of Chongpat Murung Para.

Sources said that Kaingpa Murung has an arrest warrant in a case of Alikadam Police Station for the crime of disturbing law and order, and another case registered in Lama Upazila in 2002, which has a GR sentence of 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 500 taka, and another 6 months of imprisonment in default of payment of a GR sentence. After the warrant and imprisonment, Kaingpa Murung hid his body. At one point, on Tuesday morning at around 4 am, based on a secret information, the team led by Lama Thana Police Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Shahjahan Kamal conducted a raid in Chongpat Murung Para. At that time, the police arrested Kaingpa Murung with an illegal domestically made single-barrel gun.

Confirming the arrest of the convicted fugitive Kaingpa Murung with the gun, Lama Thana Police Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Shahjahan Kamal said that a case has been filed against the arrested Kaingpa Murung under Section 19 (A) of the Arms Act, 1878.
