A youth named Sagar Sheikh alias Masud Rana (25) has been allegedly beaten to death in Sujanagar, Pabna on suspicion of being a cow thief. ‎ On Tuesday (January 13), the police recovered his body from the railway station area of ​​Tantiband Union of the upazila around 12 noon. The incident took place in the area earlier at 5 am.

‎Sujanagar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Sadiq Ahmed confirmed this information. ‎ ‎The deceased Sagar is the son of Abdul Matin Sheikh of Hasampur area of ​​Nazirganj Union. He was a carpenter and van driver by profession. ‎ ‎According to police and local sources, two or three people including the deceased Sagar were roaming around the house of Nazrul Islam in the Tantiband Station area around 4 am. Suspecting that they had come to steal cows, Monirul Islam, son of the owner of the house, Nazrul Islam, started shouting. Then the people of the area gathered and arrested Sagar and beat him up, killing him on the spot.

More than fifty serious injury marks were found all over his body. In addition, there were several sharp weapon injuries on his head and legs. Later, after receiving information from the locals, the police recovered the body from the scene around 12 noon.

‎Sujanagar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Sadiq Ahmed said, initially we have learned that the man who came to steal cows was killed in a mob beating. After receiving the information, we visited the scene. The body was recovered and sent to the hospital morgue. Legal action will be taken. Taking the law into our own hands is a punishable crime. The culprit must be caught and handed over to the law.

Note: More than a hundred cows have been stolen from Bhandara Union in Pabna Sadar Upazila in the last one and a half years. The locals also recently blocked a road and formed a human chain demanding redress.
