Iranian officials say Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is “safe and well” despite reports that he was wounded during the recent war. Yousef Pajeshkian, the son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and a government adviser, addressed the reports on his Telegram channel on Wednesday (March 11).
“I heard the news that Mojtaba Khamenei was wounded,” Yousef wrote. “I asked some friends who are in contact with the Khamenei family. They told me that, by the grace of God, he is safe and well.”
Iranian state television earlier described the 56-year-old leader as a “wounded warrior of the Ramadan war,” but did not provide details about the reported injuries.
Khamenei has not appeared in public since succeeding his late father, Ali Khamenei, three days ago. His absence has fueled speculation about his health and whereabouts.
According to a report by The New York Times, citing three Iranian and two Israeli officials who spoke on condition of anonymity, Khamenei was wounded on the first day of Israeli and US attacks on Iran.
