Traffic movement on several key roads in Dhaka will be temporarily diverted from 8:00am to 11:00am on Thursday due to the first session of the National Parliament.
According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the session will be held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and will be attended by the President, Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, foreign diplomats, political leaders and other distinguished guests.
As a result, heavy traffic is expected in areas including Manik Mia Avenue, Asad Gate, Khejur Bagan Intersection and Urojahaj Mor.
To manage congestion, the DMP Traffic Division will implement temporary road diversions.
Traffic Diversion Plan: Indira Road to Begum Rokeya Sarani: Vehicles coming from Indira Road via Urojahaj Mor will not be allowed to turn right towards Begum Rokeya Sarani. Drivers must go straight along Manik Mia Avenue and then reach their destination via Mirpur Road.
Manik Mia Avenue to Begum Rokeya Sarani: Vehicles approaching from Manik Mia Avenue via Khejur Bagan will not be allowed to turn left towards Begum Rokeya Sarani. Instead, they should travel through Farmgate to reach their destination.
In addition, from Urojahaj Mor to Khejur Bagan, vehicles will move one-way southbound on both sides of the road.
The DMP has urged drivers to follow the temporary traffic instructions and requested cooperation from city residents to help reduce congestion during the scheduled time.
