Md. Sarwar has instructed bus owners to ensure two drivers on every long-distance bus to reduce the risk of road accidents during the upcoming Eid travel rush.

He made the directive while speaking at a meeting with transport owners and workers at Mohakhali Bus Terminal on Wednesday (March 11).

The commissioner said a large security presence will be deployed to ensure a safe and smooth journey for passengers. Members of the police, traffic police, Detective Branch (DB), SWAT teams and dog squads will remain on duty at bus terminals, launch terminals and railway stations.

Authorities will also operate mobile courts to prevent violations during the holiday travel period.

The DMP chief warned bus operators not to pick up passengers from roadsides in a way that creates traffic congestion.

He also said magistrates from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority and five other agencies, including the city corporations, will conduct joint drives to prevent excessive fares and ensure discipline in the transport sector during Eid travel.
