


The Forest Department has mixed 2,100 cubic feet of seized sand, illegally extracted on the orders of the court in Banshkhali, Chattogram, with natural spread.
On Tuesday (January 13) morning, officials of the Jaldi Wildlife Sanctuary Range mixed this sand on the orders of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department in Puichhari of the upazila.
At that time, Anisuzzaman Sheikh, Range Officer of Jaldi Wildlife Sanctuary Range, Banshkhali Ecopark Range Officer and Forest Case Director Md. Israel Haque, Puichhari Forest Beat Officer Kamrul Islam, and other officers and employees of the Forest Department, including the concerned forest rangers, were present.
Banshkhali Ecopark Range Officer and Forest Case Director Md. Israel Haque said, "On the orders of the court, 2,100 cubic feet of sand seized from the Poichhari bit of the range in the Jaldi Sanctuary has been mixed with natural vegetation. Illegal sand extraction is severely damaging the forest area, natural vegetation and biodiversity. Therefore, legal action is being taken against those involved in illegal sand extraction on behalf of the Forest Department under a zero tolerance policy."
