UP members and locals of the Nachanmahal Union Parishad (One) of Nalchiti Upazila of Jhalakathi have protested demanding the removal of Shah Alam, the panel chairman (one) of the Nachanmahal Union Parishad, on irregularities and corruption charges.
The protest procession was held at the Parishad premises at 11 am on Tuesday (January 13). At this time, UP member Jamal Hossain said that the panel chairman has been committing various irregularities and corruption since taking charge. The previous chairman left seventy-six thousand taka as the tax allocation of the Parishad as a bank, and later Panel Chairman Shah Alam embezzled that money. In addition, he has also embezzled the money of various projects of the union by using it at his own will.
We are demanding the removal of this corrupt panel chairman. We are also demanding that an administrator be appointed in our Parishad.
Local resident Yunuch Hawlader said, when I approached the chairman with any problem, he demanded money in the name of arbitration. He took money from me and did not even do that arbitration. When I asked for the money back, he harassed me in various ways.
In this regard, Nachanmahal Union Parishad Panel (One) Chairman Shah Alam said, most of those who protested against me here are associated with Awami League politics. They have tried to humiliate me in various ways before. UP member Jamal Hossain forged my signature and committed various irregularities. They got angry with me for talking about them.
