An awareness meeting and exchange of views on the prevention of anthrax disease was held at the initiative of the Livestock Department in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat.
The meeting was held on Friday (October 10) with the participation of market traders, farmers and general livestock keepers from different areas of the upazila. Upazila Livestock Officer, Dr. Md. Ferdousur Rahman, Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Zahedul Islam Zahid, and local public representatives were present at the meeting.
The speakers said that anthrax is an infectious disease that can spread from animals to humans. Therefore, it is urged to vaccinate livestock on time, bury dead animals properly and contact the Livestock Department immediately if a suspicious disease occurs.
At this time, detailed guidelines were given to the participants on what to do to prevent the disease, including distributing leaflets.
Local farmers praised such awareness initiatives and said that regular yard meetings like this would help them be more aware and vigilant.
