An awareness meeting and exchange of views on the prevention of anthrax (Anthrax) disease was held in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat at the initiative of the Livestock Department. The meeting was held on Friday (October 10) with the participation of market meat traders, farmers and general livestock keepers from different areas of the upazila. Upazila Livestock Officer, Dr. Md. Ferdousur Rahman, Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Jahedul Islam Zahid, and local public representatives were present at the meeting.
The speakers said that anthrax is an infectious disease that can spread from animals to humans. Therefore, it is urged to vaccinate livestock on time, bury dead animals properly and contact the Livestock Department immediately if a suspicious disease occurs. During this time, detailed guidelines were given to the participants on what to do to prevent the disease, including distributing leaflets.
Local farmers appreciated such awareness initiatives and said that if such yard meetings were held regularly, they would be more aware and vigilant.
