Various social organizations, including local conscious groups, have formed a human chain and protested against drugs and online gambling in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat.
The human chain and protest was held in the Tushabhandar Super Market area of the upazila on Thursday (November 27) afternoon.
At this time, the speakers said, "We want to protect our future generation from the terrible scourge of drugs and gambling. Recently, the trend of online gambling and drug use has increased in different areas of this upazila, which is creating instability in social and family life."
All types of gambling, including online casino gambling, are currently the main cause of social degradation. A person addicted to gambling is isolating himself from society. Today, hundreds of families are breaking up because of this gambling. If the government does not take any initiative to stop this online gambling and drugs now, the youth will be subjected to an even worse situation in the coming days.
Calling on the administration at this time, the speakers said that to protect the youth, effective steps must be taken to eliminate drugs and gambling by quickly arresting drug dealers and gamblers. We want the youth to be free from the clutches of drugs and gambling, free from drugs and aware of them. The participants in the human chain warned of calling for more stringent programs if drugs and gambling are not stopped immediately.
