Body of unidentified person recovered from Bashkhali sea beach

The Bashkhali Police Station has recovered the half-decomposed body of an unidentified person from the Khankhanabad Kadamrasul sea beach in Bashkhali upazila of Chittagong. The name and identity of the deceased person could not be confirmed, but the police said that his approximate age was 60 years.

The body was recovered from the Kadamrasul sea beach on the Bay of Bengal coast of Khankhanabad UP in Bashkhali upazila at around 11 am on Friday (October 31). Earlier, locals said that the body had floated from the deep sea during the morning tide.

Eyewitnesses said, 'A body had floated on the sea beach during the tide. Local people saw the body and informed the police along with public representatives. Later, the body was recovered with the help of the police of Baharchara police station and members of the Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Memorial Parliament of Khankhanabad.’

Former student leader Mohammad Rezaul Karim said, ‘In the morning, the body of an old woman was washed up on the Kadamrasul sea beach during the high tide. The body was wearing only a round-necked shirt. The body was rotting and smelling bad. The body was decomposed. The face was disfigured. Later, the body was recovered with the help of the police and members of the Ziaur Rahman Memorial Parliament of Khankhanabad.’

Bashkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said, ‘The police recovered the body after receiving the news. The body was decomposed. We are continuing the search operations to identify the body. The body has been sent to the morgue of Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital for autopsy.’
